Colorado offers unparalleled adventure in the heart of the great outdoors. Featuring world-class skiing and incredible hiking, many people call it the adventure capital of the US. Here at KODI Rafting we love getting out to hike and ski, and we also know that white water rafting in Colorado is some of the most exciting rafting on Earth.

Of the many trips that we offer, our Blue River rafting trip is one of our favorites as it is short, sweet and offers unforgettable scenery and adventure.

Colorado’s Blue River Rafting

We often call our half-day Blue River rafting trip a “quick hitter”, because it is just an 1.5 action-packed hours and allows you to see some of the most beautiful scenery Summit County, CO has to offer.

What To Expect

You’ll put in just downstream from Silverthorne, which makes it a convenient location for anyone located in Breckinridge, Dillon or Frisco. The first three miles are a calm float where you can admire the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and all the flora and wildlife around you.

You’ll then your make your way through three miles of Class II-III white water, making it a perfect quick and exhilarating family rafting trip.

While you can expect to get wet and to have fun, the Blue River rafting trip is not quite as intense as some of the larger, Class IV-V trips we offer, making it a great mix of fun for a variety of experience levels.

Tips For Your Colorado Blue River Rafting Trip

1. Prepare for the elements

While rafting the Blue River only lasts 1.5 hours, the weather can change rapidly in the high mountain country, so it’s important you’re ready for anything as we depart rain or shine!

2. Dress to get wet

You’ll definitely get wet on this intense ride, so wear quick-drying clothes or synthetics, as cotton gets colder when wet. Don’t worry, we have wetsuits and splash tops we can issue you just to cover the bases.

3. Don’t bring valuables

Leave the expensive jewelry, hats and other accessories in the car. You’re likely to donate them to the river unintentionally while you’re paddling and we want you to be enjoy yourself instead of wishing you would have backed up all of the photos .

Cell phones are also common casualties on white water rafting trips, and we recommend leaving them behind.

4. Hydrate and Fuel

Rafting The Blue River is a work out, so be sure to hydrate and fuel up before-hand.  We don’t stop for snacks and discourage generating potential trash on the river.

5. Listen to your guide

Your guide has extensive river navigation, rescue and medical training. So help them do their job (which is to keep you safe!) by listening to them at all times.

Wildlife Along The Blue River

Because the first portion of the trip is flat water, you’ll be able to use this time to spot wildlife wherever you can! Wildlife in Summit County includes birds of prey along with moose, bear, mountain lions, mountain goats, big horned sheep and more!
